Dry needling has arguably one of the best researched outcomes in treating myofascial trigger points. Dry needling utilizes a thin microfilament needle which is inserted into the muscle causing the pain or referral pattern. Often the patient feels a quick muscle twitch. This leads to pain relief and helps the muscle relax.
